Can someone help me? I want to get the deal on Restaurant.com, but nothing happens when I put in my code: DINE. Can't make it work. Any suggestions? We would like to go to dinner tonight!

"As many of you may know, Boise Valley Habitat for Humanity has been earning much needed funding through the Albertsons Community Partners Program. Under this program, every time you shop at Albertsons and scan your linked Preferred Savings Card, Boise Valley Habitat for Humanity will earn back up to 4% of your shopping dollars. During 2008, we received nearly $675 from the Albertsons Community Partners Program.

Even if you have linked your Preferred Savings Card to Boise Valley Habitat for Humanity in the past, you must relink your card at the Albertson's website by February 28, 2009 in order to keep earning funds for Boise Valley Habitat for Humanity. Ok, so I know this deal ends tomorrow, but it's awesome. Their excedrin 24 count is $1.99 this week and on thi site you can print a $2 off coupon (twice). THEN, when you buy your excedrin, you get a $1 RR printed. Make sure you do separate transactions to get your extra RR's. Here's the trick, the coupon is worth more than the price at Walgreens, so have them adjust THEIR price to $2.00 so that they will get their money back. The total comes out to .12/bottle. I got 5 bottles for .60. Saved $25!!! (plus my $5 RR's) Yeah for excedrin!

I was at Fred Meyer today (the one in meridian) and there was a guy from the statesman right when you walk in the front doors. You can get a Sunday/holiday paper for half off the reg price. You can sign up for as many as you want. They just have to be under different names and you have to either pay for a 6 month subscription or a year subscription up front. I dont know about you, but I can never have too many diapers!

"You got how many biscuits?!?!?"

If any of you went a little crazy with the biscuits (myself included) you may or may not have heard that from your husband. Mine can never resist the coupon comments, and now I am on a mission to prove him wrong! So, here's where you come in... I need ideas and recipes to use so that I can use all my biscuits before they expire.Here's what I tried last night for any of you looking to use yours up too.

Chicken Pot Pie (adapted from pillsbury.com)
Crust:
1 Can of Biscuit Dough
Filling:
1/3 cup butter
1/3 cup chopped onion
1/3 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 cups chicken broth
1/2 cup milk or heavy cream
2 1/2 cups chicken
2 cups Green Giant Valley Fresh Steamers frozen mixed veggies, or just peas, or whatever you have
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350 F
2. Put 3 or 4 biscuit circles on the bottom of your pan ( I used a 6-7 in round baking dish) and spread them out so they are all touching or over lapping
Cook for 20 minutes
3. Meanwhile, in a saucepan melt butter over medium heat. Add onion, cook 2 minutes, stirring often. Stir in flour and seasonings. Gradually stir in broth and milk, cooking and stirring until bubbly and thickened.
4. Stir in chicken and vegatables. Remove from heat.
5. Put in baking dish and top with 3-4 more biscuit squares.
6. Bake 25-35 minutes, or until top is a pretty brown. (you may need to cover with foil for the last 15 minutes or so to prevent too much browning)

We had this last night and everyone liked it. I have never made a pot pie, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but it was easy, quick and I used all ingredients that I had gotten for dang cheap or free. I think the whole meal cost me 50 cents!

I made the mini pizza's for lunch today for my kids and they were a hit! Just put some spaghetti sauce and mozzarella cheese and bake them up! (I didn't time it, I just watched them closely)

Here's a recipe from all recipes for monkey bread. Can't wait to try this one!
INGREDIENTS
3 (10 oz) packages biscuit dough
3/4 cup white sugar
3 tablespoons cinnamon
1/2 cup margarine
3/4 cup white sugar
DIRECTIONS
1. Mix together 3/4 cup sugar and cinnamon
2. Quarter the biscuits with kitchen shears (dip shears in water after each cut to keep biscuits from getting too sticky). Dip biscuits into sugar mixture, and place in a greased tube pan.
3. Melt margarine and mix in 3/4 cup sugar. Pour over biscuits.
4. Bake in oven at 350 degrees F for 30-35 minutes.

I'll try to add more as I find them!

Progresso light soups

Has anyone bought the progresso light soups on the sale? I have light coupons, but not regular...

Here's my deals...

Grands biscuits...free (some of the biscuits have 50 cents off any 2 stickies on them, which makes them free)
chex mix...I'm stupid and forgot to give my coupon to the cashier...does anyone else do this?...made me mad at myself. So, they were $1...should have been free
Betty Crocker cake mix...25 cents
Betty Crocker frosting...17 cents (with a 50 cent manuf. coupon)
Betty Crocker cookie pouches...17 cents (the frosting I bought had 50 cents off any cookie pouch, so I used the coupons from those for the cookie pouches)
Betty Crocker Stickers (fruit roll up thingys)...they paid me $1 for every 5 I bought (I had manuf. coupons for 50 cents off per box and then the catalina for $3.50 printed off also. I didn't try more than 5 boxes per transaction, because the catalina prints $3.50 off per 5 boxes, so I don't think it would print 2 of them for 10.

My Albertsons Trip

My first transaction was $24, and each transaction thereafter was between .48 cents and $3.70. I just stocked up on the things that I thought might sell out this morning. I'm sure I'll be back in the next few days to get some other items.

• Betty Crocker Warm Delights were 0.17 cents after .50 cent off coupon
• Pillsbury Grands Biscuits are FREE with .75 cent off 3 coupons. (Albies @ Mer/Fairview has tons of coupons these coupons to give away).
• Chex Mix and Cheerios Mix are .50 cents to free depending on the coupon. There are .50 cent off newspaper coupons, .60 cent and $1 off printables.
• Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks/Gushers/Fruit Rolls are somewhere between .05 cents or -.20 cents (overage) depending on your coupons. I got 50 boxes for free! There are many variations coupons out there .50/1, .50/2, $1.25/4 and $1.5/5 are what I used.
• When you buy 5 fruit snacks/gush/rolls you get an additional $3.50 off catalina with the $10 off. In each transaction I had 5 fruit snacks and 5 other items. I was afraid if I did 10 fruit snacks together in one transaction, I'd only get one $3.50 catalina. If anyone tries this and gets 2 $3.50 cats please let us know!

Albertsons... Is anyone going to be able to sleep tonight?

So, I am not ready to put together my list...but here are a couple of pointers for Albertsons tomorrow.

1. Plan your shopping out before you go. Have a list of how you will do each transaction and have all the coupons for each transaction separated.

2. A few people have asked me, and unlike Walgreens, at Albertson's if you do several back to back transactions and use the $10 Catalina, a new one will print each time.

Ice Cream and restaurants

I know that the sale is over today, but Albertson's ice cream is on sale for $1.99 for the 1.75 quart size. You have to use the coupon in their ad, on the front page. I don't know if you have tried their ice cream, but it is AWESOME...the only ice cream I buy (I'm very picky with ice cream).

Also, if you want a great deal for dining out, go to www.restaurant.com and you can get $25 gift cards to a bunch of local restaurants for $3! I've used these before and had no problems with it. Use the code PREZ at the checkout, and you'll get the deal. Just FYI, most of the restaurants require you to spend at least $35 on dinner with these certificates.... Order them soon though, because they do sell out, especially at this price.

Rite Aid Prescription Transfer Coupon

My two kids are sick and have ear infections- yuck! But after we visited the Doctor, we had the prescription called into our usual savon pharmacy and then I called Rite Aid and asked them to do a transfer. Rite Aid takes your info and calls the other pharmacy and transfers the Rx to their store. Then print off these coupons for 2 $25 gift cards for transferring 2 prescriptions. I made $50 from having sick kids! I got a humidifier and a big toy dump truck for my sick son for free! The coupon is a pdf, but it's legit. You can navigate to it from Rite Aid's website. :)
The Rite Aid offer expires 3/31/09. Target also had $10 coupons for transferring a Rx in this week's Sunday paper, but only local Target w/ pharmacy is Nampa.

Costco Milk

I was at Costco on Friday and bought skim milk for a 1.50 a gallon and 2% for 1.75. Has milk always been this cheap at costco?! I hadn't been in so long maybe I'm just out of the loop. No Coupon Inserts This Sunday

Thanks to Monica at Fabulessly Frugal for the heads up. There will be no coupons in this Sunday's paper. If you have the Sunday paper delivered to you, call them and request a "vacation stop" and tell them you want to credit the account (not hold it), and that way you can extend your subscription by a week. There's no use paying for a paper without coupons!!

Albertson's is pretty low key this week... I am liking the spend $25 on Conagra Products- and then a$10 Catalina prints (good on your next purchase). There is Pam Cooking Spray, Hunts Ketchup, Chef Boyardee, Marie Callenders Frozen Dinners, Hunts Tomatoes, and lots of others. Just be sure to spend $25 before tax and coupons and the $10 coupon will print.

Fred Meyer has a good sale on yogurt this week (regular and light). 30 cents a carton for 8 oz size (for the first 20). The coupon is on the front page of their ad, or you can pick it up right by the yogurt. You can get a good deal on yogurt at Albies if you want to spend $10 on yogurt as well...I didn't want THAT much yogurt though.

Cleaning Coupons

This website has a bunch of cleaning tips and coupons. It will ask you in the end for your name and email. I have a separate email set up for coupons so that I don't receive any junk mail in my personal account. Go to Right @ Home and get your coupons!

Decoding barcodes. Wonder if your coupon will work on a product?

I just stumbled across this blog with some info I had to share. It is from: www.lomac27.blogspot.com . Scroll to her Jan 29 2009 entry.

It talks about how to tell if your coupon will work on a certain product, by looking at the numbers on the barcode. Your coupon should work if the first 5 numbers of the barcode match the first 5 #'s on the product barcode, if they match, your coupon should work! Try it out, I did. I pulled out my kotex coupons and they matched to the ones I've been getting at Wal Mart. I looked at my febreeze, they match too, shampoo, lotion ect...

I hope that helps someone, I never knew about it, so next time you're wondering if your coupon will work on the product, check out your barcode numbers to see if they match up!

KCL Investigates: Fraudulent Colgate?

UPDATE: Colgate confirmed that the $1.50 off coupon is fraudulent.
The only toothpaste prinatble coupon that's out right now is accesible from the website link below.

First let me say thanks to our contributor Emily for all her wonderful posts. She is the most seasoned couponer on our panel and the biggest philanthropist of couponed goods. I completely respect and trust her. I also appreciate the Colgate coupon's validity being called into question. I agree that it is highly suspect and probably fraudulent. The best way to tell for sure is to ask the company that puts out the coupons. I will be calling Colgate customer service tomorrow at 7:00 AM to ask about the coupon. Right now at Walgreens, their Colgate toothpaste is on sale for $ 1.50, and when you buy 2, you get a $ 1.00 RR (Register Reward. It's a coupon you can use at Walgreens on your next visit)

Make sure to seperate your transactions into groups of 2 to get your $ 1.00 RR each time. I made the mistake the first few times, buying 4 at a time, but only 1 RR printed out. Today, I seperated my transactions with 2 toothpastes, and a RR printed out for every 2)

Buy/Sell Kids Clothes! SAVE MONEY!

Calling all Moms! The dates have just been announced, March 19-21st for the Spring Sale at Moppet Togs Consignment sale! I joke that Christmas comes twice a year for me with this sale. Why save money on groceries just to spend it all on clothes for your kids? This is my favorite consignment sale in the valley. The clothes are much better quality than Other Mothers or Kid to Kid, and you can find much nicer, name brand and boutique brand clothing. I love kid shoes and I’ve bought pediped, primigi, stride rite, puma, gap and other nice brand shoes at this sale.

Buying: You can shop the sale with the general public, but if you’re like me you want to join the other crazies who volunteer for one 4 hour shift. Volunteering allows you to shop at the first pre-sale. Getting the first choice of these clothes is a big deal! I always volunteer and show up to the sale with a laundry basket to shop with! When you consign you also get to shop at a pre-sale, after the volunteers and before the general public.

Selling: How do you sell your kids clothes? Do you sell them at a garage sale for $1-2 per piece? Do you sell them on Ebay –all that hassle gets old for me too- and then paypal and ebay take their chunk of my money. Do you sell them to Other Mothers where they give you 45% of what they deem it’s worth? Moppet Togs is the answer. Here’s how to sell at the sale. You hang your cloths on hangers, all pinned together for outfits and you price what you want to sell it for. You cut a 3x5 card into thirds or fourths and pin it to the top right shoulder of the garment. Then you enter all you items and prices in an online database. When you go to drop of the clothing They’ll have barcodes printed out on stickers that you’ll stick to your tag. You keep 70% of the sale price of your items. Every night during the sale you can log in to your account and see how much you’ve sold! Lastly, you have the option to let your items go half off on the last day of the sale. On items that I love, I won’t let them go half off, but on things that I want gone, I do. This makes for great shopping on the last day of the sale. I’d guess atleast 80% of the merchandise goes half off on the last day. There is a huge price range, so ask what you want for your things.

Get online and visit their website! Sign up to be a consigner and start getting your kid’s clothes ready! (Call Old Navy and ask them to set aside hangers for you if you don’t want to use your own.)
